Fired-UpActs 5:28,” saying,"Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man's blood on us!" NKJV“The most contagious thing in the world is lack of enthusiasm, and the second most contagious is enthusiasm” Zingers, p. 83.Acts 17:6, “But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out,"These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.” NKJVHigh-fives, shouting, hollering, jumping up and down, cheering, yelling, and being obnoxious are trappings of all sports fans. No matter the venue, sports fans are going to get excited about their team and its efforts. Fans know about the players, their strengths and weaknesses. Coaches and managers are always under suspicion when they don’t win. Being a fan means that one is loyal and supportive in the bad times and enthused in the good times. Being a fan also means that it is ok to go overboard in one’s enthusiasm.Christians should be the most enthused people on earth. We should be so excited about our life in Christ that everyone around us knows about it. Our new life should ignite us. Why then are we so dull? Why is our worship so flat? When you go to most churches, you find spectators waiting for some thrilling entertainment. It is rare to find participators who are like the sports fans. Believers seem to be complacent about their blessings. We tend to take so much for granted. Our challenge is to get back to the excitement of the early church. We need to turn our world upside down for Christ! Are you a deadhead? Do you live your Christian life in secret? Are you ashamed of the salvation God has given? Do you get “carried away” when you worship? If you are like most believers, you must confess that you have not been enthusiastic in your walk. Call on Christ today and confess your coldness. Ask Jesus to fire you up again. Soon everyone around you will see your excitement.Hallelujah!Think on these things!Dr. David HammondsSardis Baptist ChurchPalmetto, Georgia
