Running Again

Jeremiah 18:4, "And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make." NKJVWhen our youngest daughter, Alison, graduated from college she bought a new car. She decided she did not want to sell her old car because it had been with her through high school and college. She asked if we could keep it. That was in 2005. The old Prelude has been a thorn in my side since that day. After several months the car quit running. I have had it towed several times. Recently, I decided it was time to put the car out of its misery. Rust spots were beginning to show its terrible condition. Suddenly a friend and a master mechanic (magician is a better word) decided to purchase the old clunker. Within a few days the old Prelude was up and running again. That car is my testimony. As a young man I let rebellion and reckless living take me out of the running. I had let sin spots reveal my terrible spiritual condition. Thank God, He sees beyond our broken lives and restores us. One day the Master Mechanic, Jesus, did a new work in my life and put me back in the running. I have enjoyed that last 34 years of being in tune with God. The fact is that many believers are living in broken-down condition . Sin has damaged them. They don't work right any more. Their spiritual engine has stopped. God is so gracious to pick us up and brush us off. He knows how to get us started again. He is so merciful and kind. How is your spiritual condition? Are you running at peak spiritual efficiency? Has sin stopped your spiritual progress? Do as I did. Turn your life over to the Lord. Confess your rebellion and begin a new walk with Christ. The joy of new living will be yours again. He can start the most stubborn heart. Let Him work on you today. If you have lived this experience, you are rejoicing with me today. Thank God for His love. He is the God of the second chance!!!Gentlemen, start your engines!!!think on these thingsDavid HammondsSardis Baptist ChurchPalmetto, Georgia
