Mother's Devotion

Amram and Jocebed had three children. One was Aaron, another was Miriam and the one was Moses. All three of their children played a significant role in the history of God's people and the plan of God for the world.Susannah Wesley who had 17 children. Several of them died while young, as children often did in those days. Nine of her children reached adulthood. Just think had difficult her life must have been rearing a family in a home little filled with children - and, she did it in a day when she had none of our modern conveniences.She did not try to escape her responsibilities. She could have packed her bags, like some do today, and told the Lord that she just could not do what was being required. After all, she wanted to be a wife and mother, but she did not want to run an orphanage.Susannah Wesley was a Christian mother and she prayed with her children daily, read the Word of God to them and taught them discipline. We read in places that her husband was not a lot of help to her. Two of her sons, John and Charles Wesley, literally shook two continents for God.A mother's devotion is important in a home. It is true that children can grow up in the finest of Christian homes and then decide to go their own way. But, a devoted Christian mother gives her children the best chance for a life filled with God's purpose. It takes work, devotion, love, discipline - and, most of all, divine help to be a mother devoted to God and family. But, it does make a difference!
