I Think I Own A Buick

[Editor's Note: Dr. Johnny L. Sanders shares a story concerning the commitment of Dr. H. Leon Eddleman. Dr. Eddleman was so preoccupied with the Lord and His Word that he wasn't even sure what brand of care he owned.]

My young son John rode with me from Bastrop to Monroe to pick up Dr. H. Leon Eddleman at the airport.  He was scheduled to preach a revival for us in the church I served as pastor.  He and I did a certain amount of “catching up” as we drove back to Bastrop.  Just as we reached the city limits of Bastrop, Dr. Eddleman asked, “Johnny, what kind of car is this?”

I said, “It’s a Buick.”

Dr. Eddleman said, “I think I have a Buick.”

I waited for more but that was it.  He thought he had a Buick!

I not only knew I was driving a Buick, I remembered his new white Oldsmobile Mrs. Eddleman used to drive him to and from the airport when I was a student at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  I not only knew what I was driving, I knew what I wished I could have been driving!
