Philip Cooper was born March 29, 1960. He is married to Tina Smithey Cooper, who is a math teacher at Piedmont Middle School. They have two daughters and son: Emily Cooper Derrick who is an adult living in New Albany, Mississippi; Hannah Cooper, age 18, Piedmont, Alabama; and, Will Cooper, age 27, who lives in Piedmont, Alabama.
Philip was licensed (February 26, 1984) and ordained (January 19, 1986) by Beulah Baptist Church, Myrtle, Mississippi. He completed a B.A. Degree in Biblical Studies at Blue Mountain College in 1989 and earned his Master of Divinity Degree from Mid-America Seminary in 1996.
He has served as a pastor in Southern Baptist churches in Mississippi and Alabama in 24 years of Christian ministry. He wrote "The Pastor's Vision for the Church," Growing Churches, Summer 2000.
