Sweet Tea

Title: Sweet Tea
Subject: Attitude
Darwin’s Theory,

How would you like some tea? Would you like it straight out of the tea bag? Of course not. The good ole’ boys around her that chew tobacco wouldn’t even be dumb enough to eat tea straight out of a bag. Tea goes through a heating process where boiling water pulls the flavor from the bags and takes something that has no delight to the taste buds and makes its something delightful. Add a little sugar and ice and you have a south Georgia delightful touch.

Christians are like a bunch of tea bags that God takes through a heating process (Malachi 3:1-3) and pulls out something delightful from a life full of sin and self. God says in Jeremiah 23:29 that His Word is like fire. Has He heated up your life lately? God many times allows situations to happen that cause heat in our life. After the situation happens He takes His Word that is like fire and heats us up more. He does this to get rid of sin and selfishness and to form Christ within us.

This happened to me recently while mountain biking. I was riding along the river trails and a stick popped up and got stuck in my rear derailer on my bike. It bent my chain, broke my derailer hanger, and bent a couple of spokes. The bottom line was that a small stick made me walk my bike about 2 miles and cost me about eighty bucks. My son was with me so I kept my attitude in check, but the heat was bringing some stuff to the surface that I had to give over to Christ quickly. I felt I passed this heat test and after paying for all my parts to get it fixed I basically figured if I played golf I would have blown $80 on two outings and would not have gotten a cardiovascular workout.

How do you like your tea? I think God likes His tea sweet just like Christ. Sweet tea is what He wants to create you. He wants you to be a delight to Him and others. Will you cooperate this week with Him as He heats up your life and uses His Word to form Christ in you?
