Not What You See

2 Corinthians 5:7, "For we walk by faith, not by sight." NKJV

A strange thing happened a few days ago. Andy, my good friend, and I were walking across the parking lot after the Sunday morning service. There was only one car in the parking lot. It was Andy's. All of a sudden, I realized my truck was not where it should have been. I looked at Andy and proclaimed, "Somebody stole my truck." Andy's eyes widened and exclaimed, "Are you sure?" I replied, "My truck is not here so someone must have taken it!" Just as I was about to panic, Sandra turns around to me and says, "David, your truck is at the Baptist Children's Home where you left it Friday." I had gone to the Children's Home on the previous Friday to pick Sandra up for her treatment. With all the activities of the weekend I forgot about leaving the truck at her office. Don't laugh. It could happen to you.

Sometimes in life we see situations that appear a certain way. My favorite preacher, Bill Stafford, made this statement. "Don't believe what you see, what you see is not true, what God says is true." We draw certain conclusions about a particular situation. Those conclusions may not be true. We may be seeing something that is not as it appears. For the believer there is the challenge to always walk by faith and not by what we see, feel, hear, or even think. My greatest teacher, Sandra, has a statement that encourages me. She says, "Go with what you know, not what you think."

Today you may be facing something that looks terrible. Darkness may be all around a certain situation. You may be drawing conclusions that have you disillusioned, discouraged, or even desperate. Remember the Christian life is a life of faith. Faith is trusting. Trust the Lord. He is working all things in your life for your good and His glory. Thrust everything in your life into His care. Call on Him now. He cares for you.

The sun will come out tomorrow!!

Think on these things.
