My All In All

Darwin’s Theory,

“Taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8). What is the dining room of your heart-home like? What are you feasting on and what are you serving to the Lord? There is a God-shaped void in your heart that can only be satisfied by God Himself. John Piper says, “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.” I meet a few satisfied Christians. They are a joy to be around and have found the Scripture is true that says, “Contentment with godliness is of great gain” (1 Timothy 6:6). Trying to fill our God-shaped void with the things of this world is like trying to put a square peg in a round hole. Material possessions, money, power, or position will never fulfill the longings of man’s heart. St. Augustine said, “Thou hast made us for Thyself, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in Thee.” Have you found your rest in the person of Jesus Christ?

When we allow Jesus to be our all in all, we begin to serve to the Lord the kinds of meals He desires. Many of us serve Christ frozen dinners or leftovers many days. I love to sit down at a restaurant like the Outback and be served a great meal. My wife and I will start off sharing a Bloomin’ Onion, then a salad and a steak, and by the end of the meal we always have to get a “to go” plate. Many days the world or our work gets the six-course meal and at the end of the day we get a “to go” box if there is anything left over. Then we offer the box and its contents up to Jesus. He gave His life...we give leftovers. Christian, check out the dining room of your heart-house. Begin feasting upon the Lord that you may present Him with the meal He deserves.
