There are many things duct tape can fix and in some cases it can be used to create things. My oldest son made a duct tape wallet last year. People liked the wallet so much, he started making them for a few friends. The last couple of days we have been using duct tape to help my son Noah get rid of a wart. I did not believe duct tape could remove a wart until I saw it with my own eyes when we taped the bottom of our daughter’s foot and after a few days her wart just dissolved off of her foot.
Noah came in tonight and told me his duct tape fell off his big toe where his wart was located. I told him I would help him re-tape his toe. I decided to check out how the wart was doing and it had risen to the surface but still needed a few days of tape.
I started thinking of how God brings stuff to the surface in our lives. He has a way of surfacing hurts, prejudices, attitudes, and bitternesses in our lives in which He wants to remove from our lives like warts. Of course He does not use duct tape but He does use fire. The fire is not literal, but He heats up our lives and the impurities come to the surface to be scraped off and removed. Malachi 3:2-3 says God is like a refiner’s fire to purify His children. He has a way turning up the heat in our lives. He likes to bring stuff to the surface to purify us for His glory and service.
Has God applied some spiritual duct tape on a hurt in which some things are surfacing? Will you cooperate with Him and allow Him to remove the hurt, prejudices, attitudes, or bitterness? God may have not used duct tape, but nails to save the world, but He may just be using some spiritual duct tape to surface the very thing that may end up killing you if you don’t begin to cooperate with His work in your life.
