Been There, Done That!
Acts 22:10 So I said, 'What shall I do, Lord?' And the Lord said to me, 'Arise and go into Damascus, and there you will be told all things which are appointed for you to do.' NKJV
God blessed me with a good memory of past experiences. My students have encouraged me to write them in a book. My family has had to endure many occasions of returning to a place where I used to live or a school I once attended. My favorite place of all is a church named Landis Baptist Church in Landis, NC. I can go to the spot at the altar of that great church where I met Jesus. That experience will stay with me.
Paul recounts his salvation experience to the Jewish crowd here in Acts 22 and then later to King Agrippa in Acts 26. Some feel it is not necessary to go back to your conversion experience, but I disagree. I think it is good to go back and remember. Remember the convicting power of the Holy Spirit. Remember how God pulled at the heart. Remember the moment of total trust in Jesus as Savior. When I go back I find great joy fills my heart, and I fall fresh in love with Jesus again.
Do you go back to your moment of salvation? Can you remember how uncomfortable you were until you called on Jesus to save you? If you haven't gone back in a while, let me encourage you to relive that experience today. Maybe it was at church, at VBS, at youth camp, or maybe by your bedside. Wherever it was, join with the great Apostle Paul and recount your experience. If you have never had such an experience, the Savior invites you to trust Him today.
