The Belt

Title: The Belt
Subject: God''s Discipline
The Belt

Hebrews 12:7, "If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?" NKJV

Dr. Bill Cosby in his album, To Russell, My Brother, With Whom I Slept , tells about his dad and the belt. When Bill and his brother would misbehave His dad would say, "Don't make me get my belt." Dr. Bill Stafford said, "When I was a child there was a woodshed and some bloodshed." Granted, these two men have lived in a different world than today. Discipline and punishment are seen differently today. Yet there is the Biblical truth about chastening.

God loves us, and since we are His children He is going to discipline us. Discipline is a sign of sonship. When God chastens His children it is for our own good. He corrects us because He loves us. He wants the best for our lives.

Is this a day of chastening for you? God is correcting you for your good. He wants to produce His righteousness in you. Although discipline is not fun it does accomplish good things. When God spends time dealing with us one on one He is letting us know how much He loves us. Rest in His love and enjoy the closeness. Feel His arms of love now.

Love you, Dad.

Think on these things.
