Root

Hebrews 12:15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled; NKJV

Sardis Baptist Church could, and has been called a "post card" church The setting around the church is beautiful. The members at Sardis have taken good care of the facilities and the church remains very beautiful. The church yard is full of big old majestic oak trees. The entire scene is picturesque. Now we have a problem with one of the oak trees. One of the roots of the tree has grown to such a size that it has caused some damage. The root has grown under the sidewalk. Now the sidewalk has become a hazard. Work is being done to correct the problem. The hazard will be gone and the landscape will show its beauty again.

I meet some Christians that have a root causing damage to their spiritual, emotional, and physical lives. They have become bitter. They have let this root of bitterness take away all the beauty of their lives. For some it was a single incident, for others it may be several issues. Rejection, discouragement, disappointment, or disillusionment, distrust are a few of the things that cause us to grow bitter.

Today you may have a root of bitterness springing up. Don''t let this root cause damage. Take your broken heart to Christ. He told us to come to Him in these situations. Then remember that the hurt you feel, He has already felt. Your disappointment, your sorrow, your feeling of being forsaken are emotions He has endured. Let these things help you identify with Christ and His sufferings for you. Give the root to Him and let Him take it out. Life will be beautiful again.

Take deep breaths.

Think On These Things.
